I posted my last blog after meeting Who Do You Think You Are? producers Tom and Colette and the rest of the production team down in London. We'd set up a magazine photoshoot and in between photocalls I had chance to chat to everyone about their experiences of working on the programme. They had some wonderful anecdotes about the celebrities, and the thrill and spills of putting series eight together. You'll be able to meet the crew for yourself in next month¹s issue.

I had time to mull over their comments while I was writing my copy, and one that really stuck in my mind was what editor Dermot O¹Brien said about the frustration of not being able to include everything that has been filmed. It made me think about all those wonderful family history stories left on the cutting-room floor (metaphorically, of course, as Dermot assured me they edit the films on computer nowadays).

And so here on the magazine we've made it our mission to ensure that some of those stories see the light of day. We¹ll be bringing you some unscreened family history revelations about JK Rowling (look out for the October issue), Richard Madeley and many others.

As with previous series, we'll be including unseen footage on the cover discs for you to enjoy, as well as posting it on our website as soon as each show has aired. If you've missed past footage, don't forget that you can still catch up in our online episode guides.

My favourites are Patsy Kensit¹s tragic story of her ancestors lost at sea while David Mitchell's piece about crying still makes me giggle whenever I watch it.

Meanwhile, the Who Do You Think You Are? countdown has begun in earnest in the office – only three weeks to go...
