We’ve been given the green light to reveal the names of this year’s lucky celebrities, and what a strong line-up it is. Actors Samantha Womack, Alex Kingston, Celia Imrie, Patrick Stewart and William Roache; comedians Hugh Dennis and John Bishop; musician Annie Lennox; former footballer John Barnes and presenter Gregg Wallace will all be discovering their family history and there are some huge surprises. For more details see our next issue

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks speaking to the celebrities and hearing about the highs and lows of their family history quests – and there are some real heart-wrenching lows this year, I can tell you (don’t miss Gregg Wallace’s episode), as well as some amazing historic revelations (Celia Imrie).

In the next few issues of the magazine we’ll be going behind the scenes on the series, revealing – among other things – the research journeys and the documents that helped tell the stories.

The word at the moment from my BBC mole is that the series will start on Wednesday, 15 August following the Olympics, but as always, this is subject to change. The running order hasn’t been finalised yet either, but as soon as it is we’ll let you know.

So, the Who Do You Think You Are? countdown has begun – I can’t wait! Whose episode are you looking forward to and why? Let me know, or have your say on our forum...
