The East Midlands county of Nottinghamshire has a rich and fascinating history.

English hero Robin Hood rose from the county’s folklore, with the first ballad about his exploits published in 1450.

During the Industrial Revolution the county developed a booming textile industry, while John Boot opened his first store in Nottingham in 1849.

The national pharmaceutical chain became one of Nottinghamshire’s biggest businesses.

Our latest issue of Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine has a five-page expert guide to finding your ancestors who lived and worked in the county.
