Coordinated by The National Archives and the Archives & Records Association (UK and Ireland), the initiative seeks to highlight the value of archives within society, offering people the chance to take part in special events and get a glimpse behind the scenes at their local archive.

To mark the occasion, we’re making the cover feature from our February 2016 issue available to download completely free of charge.

Written by Who Do You Think You Are? TV series genealogist Laura Berry, the article reveals the top 25 reasons to get out of the house and explore the rich resources that archives have to offer. After all, not everything is online!

To see which events are taking place near you, visit the official Explore Your Archive website here. Don’t forget to share your experiences on Twitter using the hashtag #ExploreArchives.
